Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 30, 2026 · Site: testnihongo.com ("TestNihongo", "we", "this site")
This policy explains what information TestNihongo does and does not collect when you use our free JLPT practice pages, and the choices you have. TestNihongo is designed to work without accounts: you never need to register, and we never ask for your name, email address or password to use the practice tests.
Information stored only in your browser
- Wrong Book. When you answer a question incorrectly, the question's ID is saved in your browser's local storage (
testnihongo_wrong) so the Wrong Book feature can show it later. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and is removed when you tap "Clear all" in the Wrong Book or clear your browser's site data. - Your answers and scores exist only in the open page while you practise. When you close the tab, they are gone; we keep no copy.
Information processed by our hosting provider
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard technical data to deliver pages and protect the service — for example your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in server and security logs. Cloudflare's handling of that data is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. We do not run our own user database or analytics profiles of visitors.
Listening audio (text-to-speech)
Listening questions are read aloud by your own device's speech synthesis (your browser or operating system voice). The practice scripts are part of the page itself; using the audio feature does not send your voice or any recording anywhere — the site has no microphone access and records nothing.
Cookies and advertising
TestNihongo itself sets no tracking cookies. The site is supported by advertising, and third-party advertising vendors — including Google, through Google AdSense — may place ads on this site. When ads are served:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- Where required (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), ads are served in accordance with the consent choices presented to you on the site.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the practice tests will keep working.
Links to other sites
Our pages link to official and reference sites (for example jlpt.jp). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their policies.
Children's privacy
TestNihongo is a general study resource and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — as explained above, the site collects no personal information from any visitor.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data — for example if we add analytics or new ad partners — we will update this page and change the effective date above before the change takes effect.
